We will also have some free items to give out during the event. If you come out and would like to ride the train we will try to arrange a discount to the hams that operate the station. The railroad museum has also put this event into their 2012 schedule and has placed these at special locations including the interstate rest areas. This is designed to give extra ridership on the trains and give some good exposure for amateur radio. So come on out but bring a folding chair as seating is limited. Apparent Google Maps coordinates for parking at K-25 are: 35 55' 51.18" N by 84 23' 25.66" W From Oak Ridge, go west on the Oak Ridge Turnpike as if you are going to Kingston. At the 95/58 split, go to the right (west) and continue on 58 for about 5 miles. On the right you will see the K-25 site. Look for signs saying Excusion Train, or Train ride or Train Today. Turn right and go to the large parking area. The Mobile Command Post unit will be next to the train track. Coming from the south or west, up up 58 / Gallaher Road toward Oak Ridge, about 5 miles. Watch for the K-25 site on your left and then the signs for the train ride. 73, |
